Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Debuts, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors
Nintendo alongside Illumination released the initial complete preview for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. This occurred during a Nintendo-focused broadcast that centered on the forthcoming animated feature.
The follow-up to the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this new installment will transport Mario to the distant reaches of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a different royal figure and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Space-Faring Quest Drawing from Iconic Releases
Similar to the games from the Wii period that serve as its inspiration, Mario will venture away from the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will encounter once more some familiar faces, including the Luma, a popular character from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently commands metallic abilities. Notably, the trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not only concentrated on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
Star-Studded Voice Cast Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will feature once again of the original voice cast, featuring Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
Fresh faces in the lineup for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to represent Bowser Jr. The casting was verified by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is set to release near the four-decade milestone of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Beyond the film, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his friends.
The company has three new games already confirmed for 2026, featuring Mario Tennis Fever, a release on Switch 2 of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Launch Date Set
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
